Non è un romanzo, non è una autobiografia e non è nemmeno un saggio: è un bellissimo racconto di Michela che parla di sé, del suo vissuto nella comunità di fede e del ruolo subordinato delle donne nel sistema di potere patriarcale della Chiesa.
Questa racconto critico passa attraverso l'esame della figura di Maria, archetipo e simbolo di tutte le donne, nella storia della cristianità. E'forte la tensione ad una fede "adulta" che attraverso l'emancipazione della donna porti ad una autenticità di testimonianza evangelica.
Questo libro mi ha catturato perché l'autrice porta in modo apparentemente semplice, ma profondo del sapere teologico, storico e sociale, il proprio vissuto nelle relazioni personali (famiglia, parrocchia, movimenti cattolici giovanili); ne esce un'intensa e problematica analisi del mondo della fede cristiana oggi: gli stereotipi imposti soprattutto alle donne per perpetuare il potere patriarcale tramandato.
Credo che l'analisi fatta in rapporto al potere della Chiesa possa essere in buona sostanza traslato al potere nella nostra società, tanto la fede cristiana ha informato di sè la cultura occidentale.
Se poi l'operazione di avvicinare la teologia alla nostra portata, si realizza con la bella scrittura, scorrevole, ricca di aneddoti, ironia e un pizzico di umorismo, allora dobbiamo veramente ringraziare Michela Murgia del dono che ci ha fatto con il suo libro.

Baci a occhi aperti. La Sicilia nei racconti di una vita
In una nota all’inizio del libro l’autore spiega che lo stesso è nato dalla richiesta di alcuni lettori, richiesta che lo ha lasciato perplesso avendo già scritto molto sulla Sicilia e che comunque ha ritenuto di esaudire mettendo insieme, nel modo più ordinato e leggibile, quanto aveva fino a ora dato alle stampe, ma togliendo qualcosa e aggiungendo qualcos’altro. Inoltre fornisce una spiegazione dello strano titolo, Baci a occhi aperti, cioè i tanti baci che ha dato alla Sicilia costringendosi a non chiudere gli occhi, assaporandone il piacere e – aggiungo io – non tacendo quegli aspetti che positivi senz’altro non sono.
Va anche rilevata l’onestà nell’indicare sempre in questa nota da quali libri e pubblicazione ha tratto i testi. In particolare riscontro che due da me sono già conosciuti avendoli a suo tempo letti e cioè In Sicilia e L’isola senza ponte, mentre non avevo ancora preso in mano, peraltro ripromettendomi di farlo quanto prima, Sicilia, la fabbrica del mito.
Pezzi aggiunti e altri tolti nulla tolgono alla valenza di questo collage di saggi sulla Sicilia, una carrellata completa su questa terra straordinaria e sui suoi altrettanto straordinari abitanti, nulla tacendo, come già ho detto, sulle loro virtù e sui loro difetti, soprattutto per questi ultimi che costituiscono una tara che si portano dietro da parecchi anni, anzi da secoli, e che sono un freno a qualsiasi ipotesi di sviluppo in senso economico. In particolare viene ancora una volta rimarcata l'immagine di un popolo dalla natura irredimibile (come scriveva Tomasi di Lampedusa nel Gattopardo), al pari del paesaggio su cui in perfetta sintonia si muove, personaggi di una commedia della vita dalle infinite rappresentazioni, uomini e donne, in perenne contraddizione con ciò che è e che non dovrebbe essere e con ciò che non è e che invece dovrebbe essere. Sembra quasi impossibile questa discrasia in una terra che ha dato i natali a eccellenze come Luigi Pirandello, Leonardo Sciascia, Tomasi di Lampedusa, tanto per citarne solo alcuni, ma forse ciò è possibile perché dalle contraddizioni può nascere quella mente che vede oltre l’apparenza e scorge anche il percorso del futuro prossimo.
Lo stile di Collura è quello solito, dove il solito non deve essere considerato frutto di una valutazione restrittiva, ma semplicemente una conferma di quelle che sono le qualità espositive di un autore il cui livello di cultura è indubbiamente assai elevato, circostanza tuttavia che non appesantisce lo sviluppo dei concetti espressi, che anzi sono da apprezzare per una completezza non disgiunta da un gradimento di chi legge.

Cefalonia è un’isola del mar Ionio sita a ovest delle coste greche, immediatamente a nord dell’isola di Zante ed è tristemente famosa per l’eccidio degli uomini della Divisione Acqui che vi erano di stanza dopo l’occupazione della Grecia nel corso della seconda guerra mondiale; il fatto avvenne a seguito della proclamazione dell’armistizio dell’8 settembre 1943, allorché le nostre truppe furono lasciate senza precise istruzioni se non quella di reagire a eventuali attacchi provenienti da forze diverse da quelle angloamericane. A Cefalonia i tedeschi intimarono la resa al generale Antonio Gandin, comandante della divisione che ordinò alle sue truppe di reagire, decisione presa non tempestivamente a causa dell’incertezza del comportamento da tenersi, ritardo che agevolò l’afflusso di nuove truppe tedesche a sostegno del locale presidio in origine molto modesto e che ingaggiarono battaglia con l’aiuto dell’aviazione. I combattimenti durarono otto giorni nel corso dei quali non pochi nostri militati caddero sul campo, mentre circa 6.500, dopo essersi arresi, furono trucidati e altri 1.300, imbarcati su navi da trasporto con destinazione i lager tedeschi, morirono a causa delle numerose mine che infestavano il mar Ionio.
Questa è la drammatica vicenda storica oggetto del romanzo di Marcello Venturi in cui il protagonista è il figlio del capitano Aldo Puglisi, una delle vittime dell’eccidio. Si reca a Cefalonia per visitare il luogo dove è morto suo padre, ma soprattutto per rintracciare due testimoni che l’aiutino a comprendere quello che accadde, per riannodare l’intera complessa vicenda. La narrazione si avvale di due diversi piani temporali, quello del figlio che cerca di ripercorrere quel che accadde, e quello del padre, testimone della sua stessa morte. Ne scaturisce un romanzo verità di grande impatto, drammaticamente bello, con un’efficacia largamente superiore a quella che avrebbe potuto avere un diario e che nel lontano 1963 contribuì, in modo determinante, a far conoscere agli italiani e agli europei una tragedia di cui altrimenti si avrebbe avuto solo un vago sentore. Venturi riesce a far convivere abilmente l’orrore di una guerra con la bellezza della natura, non ricorre a stratagemmi inventando improbabili eroismi, non cade mai nella retorica, è un racconto che sulle tracce anche di un amore mai confessato raggiunge vertici sublimi e ha scritto bene Sandro Pertini nella sua prefazione, con parole che meglio non avrebbe potuto trovare riferendosi al senso di pietà dell’autore e alla sua convinzione: “ Forse il vero, il grande colpevole, è da ricercare altrove, in questo spirito di violenza e di sopraffazione che, al di sopra di ogni frontiera geografica e ideologica, continua ancora ad armare la mano di nuovi assassini.” E’ con questa radicata e profonda persuasione che Marcello Venturi ha raccontato, senza odio, di un eccidio a cui ha guardato con animo dolente, riuscendo con la sua narrazione a consegnare ai lettori una vera opera d’arte.
Non aggiungo altro, un capolavoro non ne ha bisogno.

Per chi, come me, non è abituato a leggere manga... beh, questo libro è qualcosa di diverso dal solito. Dunque, io amo le distopie, quindi quando mi è stato parlato per la prima volta di questo libro ero particolarmente euforica, ma in realtà la distopia qui è lo sfondo, è il contorno, l'abbellimento, anzi il pretesto. Scordiamoci Orwell, Huxley e compagnia cantante perché Battle Royale NON è un libro fatto per farci paura o per parlarci del nostro mondo. E' un libro d'azione e in questo senso fa il suo dovere: ha un ritmo incalzante, è una lettura veloce e piacevole, ha un bel modo di seguire i personaggi (cosa non da poco, visto che sono ben più di 40). Certo che tutto quello che è l'ambiente storico-politico del paese dove questo gioco assurdo avviene è lasciato molto a sé stesso o comunque è scarsamente approfondito.
In più, i personaggi sono decisamente più dei tipi che dei personaggi a tutto tondo. Dalla regia mi dicono che questo è normale nella letteratura a fumetto giapponese: per chi, come me, è un outsider, la cosa può creare almeno ilarità e al massimo disagio. Sono cose su cui si può soprassedere.
Dunque, lo consiglio? Sì, assolutamente. E' un libro piacevole, scorrevole, difficilmente vi pentirete di averlo letto. Solo una cosa: è molto grafico in alcuni suoi punti (leggendo l'abstract vi sarà chiaro perché) e, siccome di violenza in questo libro ce n'è molta, io non lo consiglio a chi è facilmente impressionabile o chi ha problemi con spargimenti di sangue etc. perché in questo libro sono cose all'ordine della pagina.
